Kalel Companies, in partnership with Masjid Abdul Muhsi Khalifah, is leading the redevelopment of the Clara Muhammad School and Masjid Khalifah Mosque site at 120 Madison Street in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn. The proposed project will transform the existing three-story structure into a thoughtfully designed, mixed-use development that delivers 144 permanently affordable homes alongside a new, modern mosque and community facility.
The redevelopment will consist of two distinct condominium components:
A four-story, faith-based community facility housing the new Masjid Khalifah and the Clara Muhammad School.
A twelve-story, 100% affordable senior housing building with 145 apartments, including a superintendent’s unit, and ground-floor commercial space.
For more than sixty years, Masjid Khalifah has served as a vital spiritual, educational, and community anchor in Bedford-Stuyvesant—fostering safety, service, and opportunity throughout the neighborhood. This transformative project will leave a lasting impact on the community by prioritizing housing for local seniors, creating a house of worship and a vibrant learning hub for our youth, and offering fresh, spacious retail spaces for local entrepreneurs.
